Adela of London
Adela can be seen rear left in this Frank Spry view of Littlehampton. Bought by Joseph Robinson in 1880 for £750, she appears in several postcards and was clearly a well known craft in the local harbours. Occasionally, her sails would bear messages of support for Sussex politicians. She was sold in 1911 for use as a hulk in Glasgow.
Technical Data
On this card, Adela is shown moored by the gas works wharf south of Arundel. She was almost certainly used to deliver coal or coke to the gas works.
