Houghton Place
This card by Cecil Vivian Gray Conway Travers of Brighton shows his distinctive bold print and sepia tone, and is one of several of the village. It was sent to Mrs Browning of Burstow Bridge Cottage, Ardingly, Haywards Heath, from her daughter Ethel who was at Houghton Place with Mr. Hooper, possibly as a servant. The cross on the card identified Ethel's bedroom.
The card was posted in Arundel on March 8th 1913. A second card, in the same series, of the back of the property had been sent in February, both thanking Mum for letters, violets and apples.
