Pulborough

Pulborough is a ribbon village which runs parallel and to the north of the river. Town Bridge (also known as Swan Bridge) is where the A29 crosses the Arun and links the river to the village. The bridge is just over nineteen miles by river from the sea. Although still tidal this far upstream, the range is quite small even at spring tides when the flood tide flows upriver for four hours and ebbs for about eight and a half hours. Pulborough is a transport hub with a railway station and roads linking to all points of the compass.
